Check for account compromise
- Look for unfamiliar sign-in alerts, password or recovery-detail changes, devices you do not recognize, or purchases you did not make.
- Do not open a sign-in link from the suspicious message; type Apple's account address yourself or use a trusted device's Settings.
Secure access
- Change the Apple Account password and review account devices, trusted phone numbers and recovery information.
- If you cannot sign in or reset the password, use Apple's official iforgot.apple.com account recovery path; recovery can require a waiting period.
- Review other accounts where the same password or phone number was used, especially your primary email and financial accounts.
If the phone is also missing
- Use Find My and Lost Mode through Apple's official service as a separate device-protection step.
- Contact the carrier through a known number if the SIM or phone number could be controlled by someone else.
- Preserve evidence of unauthorized purchases and contact Apple or your bank through official support channels.
