Pixel 11 Connectivity Diagnostics: Check Wi-Fi, Calls, Mobile Data & 5G
On an eligible Pixel 11 in the US with a US subscription, open Settings, Device health & support, then choose Wi-Fi diagnostics, Call diagnostics or Mobile data diagnostics. Connectivity health shows overall insights. These tools can isolate settings, connection and carrier scenarios; their presence does not establish a product-wide defect.
Where to find Pixel 11 connectivity diagnostics
Settings → Device health & supportFrom this page, choose the tool that matches the symptom:
- Wi-Fi diagnostics for a Wi-Fi connection, speed or no-internet scenario;
- Call diagnostics when incoming or outgoing calls fail;
- Mobile data diagnostics for slow or unavailable cellular data;
- Connectivity health for overall connectivity insights.
Google also says diagnostics can be found through Settings search by entering diagnostics or the feature name. If the three connection diagnostics do not appear, first check the availability boundary above and install current Pixel software. Do not substitute an undocumented menu or a third-party diagnostic app.
What Wi-Fi diagnostics checks
Google says Wi-Fi diagnostics can automatically detect and potentially resolve an issue, check and optimize relevant device settings, run a speed test, and provide a detailed report. A completed test is evidence about that test session, not a permanent guarantee about the phone, router or internet service.
Connected to Wi-Fi but no internet
Use this short isolation sequence:
- Turn Wi-Fi off and on, confirm Airplane mode is off, then restart the phone.
- Open a webpage after each change instead of judging the connection only by its status icon.
- Test another device on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Test the Pixel on another known network, if one is available.
- Run Wi-Fi diagnostics and compare its speed result with the other device in the same place.
If other devices also have no internet on the same network, investigate the router, captive portal, network administrator or internet service. If the Pixel works on another network, focus on the first network. If other devices work on the first network but the Pixel fails on multiple known-good networks, update the phone and use Google support.
For a public network, look for a sign-in notification or open a new webpage to trigger the authorization page. Restart a router or modem only when you own or administer it and the restart will not interrupt important users or services.
When the Wi-Fi diagnostic passes but browsing still fails
A speed test and settings check do not establish that every app, DNS request, captive portal or upstream internet path works. Confirm the same webpage in another browser, complete any network sign-in page, and compare another device on the same connection. If the failure began immediately after changing a VPN or other network-managing app, temporarily undo only that recent change while testing and preserve the information needed to reconnect.
What Call diagnostics checks
Google says Call diagnostics can detect and potentially resolve call-related issues, check and optimize call settings, test incoming and outgoing calls through a Google server, and provide a report that includes test-call quality. A failed result does not prove a modem or other hardware fault, and a passed result does not certify carrier provisioning outside the test.
Data works but calls do not
- Run Call diagnostics and note whether the incoming test, outgoing test or both fail.
- Open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs and confirm the intended SIM or eSIM and Use SIM are enabled.
- Confirm the account is active and the phone is using the intended carrier and line.
- Toggle Airplane mode on and off, then power the phone off for 30 seconds and turn it on again.
- Check for a current Android system update.
- If your carrier supports Wi-Fi Calling, check its current requirements and place a test call with the setting configured as the carrier directs.
- Ask the carrier to check voice provisioning, account restrictions, outages and network registration when data works but calls still fail.
If service changed after moving a line, keep any still-working profile intact and use the Pixel 11 eSIM transfer guide. Do not delete a working eSIM as a routine retry.
If only incoming or only outgoing calls fail, tell the carrier which Google-server test failed. That distinction is useful evidence for support, but it is not a diagnosis of a specific component.
What Mobile data diagnostics checks
Google says Mobile data diagnostics can automatically detect and potentially resolve mobile-data issues, check and optimize settings, run a speed test, and provide a detailed diagnostic report.
Before changing network preferences, open Settings → Network & internet → SIMs, turn on Mobile data, select the intended carrier, and confirm Use SIM is enabled. Turn Wi-Fi off briefly when checking cellular signal so a working Wi-Fi connection does not hide the mobile-data result.
5G icon but no usable data
- Run Mobile data diagnostics.
- Confirm Mobile data and the correct SIM or eSIM are active.
- Toggle Airplane mode on and off to refresh the radio connection.
- Restart the phone.
- Check the carrier's outage information, coverage and account or data-plan status.
- Test LTE only as a temporary isolation step when the carrier and the available menu allow it.
- Return to the carrier-recommended network preference after the comparison; a permanent LTE downgrade is not the default fix.
- Install the latest available Pixel system update.
- Contact the carrier or Google if the failure persists across known-good coverage areas.
Google notes that a 5G icon means the phone is in an area where 5G is available; it does not necessarily mean the phone is actively receiving 5G service at that moment. Signal, carrier network type, coverage and account provisioning can all affect the usable connection.
No service or mobile network unavailable
Move to a place with a stronger signal, confirm Airplane mode is off, and verify that the intended SIM is active. Restart once, check for carrier outages or account changes, and install current software. For a physical SIM, inspect it only after powering down and follow Google or carrier instructions. For an eSIM, preserve any working profile and contact the carrier for provisioning or activation failures.
If another compatible phone and SIM are available, a carrier-directed cross-check can help separate the account or SIM from the phone. Do not interpret a single failed check as proof of hardware failure.
What Connectivity health means
Google describes Connectivity health as the place for overall connectivity insights inside Device health & support. The current help pages do not define universal numeric scores, grades, thresholds or a hardware-fault verdict. Use the displayed insight as one input alongside the relevant diagnostic, repeatable symptom and carrier or network checks.
When to reset network settings
Run the lower-risk diagnostics, restart, connection-isolation and carrier checks first. Google lists separate reset choices under Settings → System → Reset options:
- Reset mobile network settings for the cellular configuration;
- Reset Bluetooth & Wi-Fi for those radios and saved connections.
Google explicitly warns that Reset Bluetooth & Wi-Fi deletes saved Wi-Fi connections. Record network passwords and be ready to pair Bluetooth accessories again before selecting it. A reset is separate from running diagnostics and should not be placed at the start of the flow.
What diagnostic information may be shared
If you share diagnostics, Google says the device may send information that depends on the test, including account information, IMEI, phone model, a session ID, incoming and outgoing test-call results, call-failure history, speed-test results, data-connection status and history, Wi-Fi speed results, and connectivity-related setting states.
This conditional diagnostic-sharing description is not the same as the general Usage & diagnostics setting under Security & privacy. Google documents that broader setting separately for ongoing device performance and usage information. Review the prompt presented by the diagnostic before deciding whether to share.
When to contact the carrier, network owner or Google
- Contact the carrier for outages, coverage, plan restrictions, voice or data provisioning, SIM/eSIM activation and unsupported Wi-Fi Calling.
- Contact the network administrator, router maker or internet provider when multiple devices fail on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Contact Google support when the Pixel repeatedly fails on multiple known-good connections after current software, safe settings checks and the relevant diagnostics.
Bring the exact symptom, time and location, diagnostic category, test result, active carrier or Wi-Fi network, and the steps already tried. That record is more useful than assuming one failed test identifies the cause.
