How to Transfer iPhone Data to Galaxy Z Fold8

DIRECT ANSWER

Keep both phones charged, choose the Smart Switch method offered for your iPhone, and review what transfers before erasing the old phone.

Quick steps

These steps are based on Samsung’s current Galaxy Smart Switch guidance and apply to the Galaxy Z Fold8 unless Samsung documents a model-specific difference.

  1. Charge both phones, keep power available, and check that the Fold8 has enough free storage for the data you select.
  2. Open Smart Switch on the Fold8, choose Receive on this phone, then choose iPhone/iPad.
  3. Use the cable, wireless, or iCloud method Smart Switch offers for the software on your phones.
  4. Keep the phones together and the connection stable until Smart Switch finishes organizing the transfer.
  5. Check important content and sign-ins on the Fold8 before changing or erasing the iPhone.

Before you transfer

Back up the iPhone, unlock it, and have its passcode available. Use stable Wi-Fi for a wireless or iCloud transfer. For a wired transfer, use a data-capable cable and the adapter your iPhone port requires. If photos and videos would exceed the Fold8’s free storage, reduce the selection or arrange supported cloud storage first.

Smart Switch transfers compatible data, not a perfect copy of every account or app. Keep the old phone unchanged until you have checked the result.

Transfer with a cable

  1. In Smart Switch on the Fold8, tap Receive on this phone, iPhone/iPad, Cable, and Next.
  2. Connect the phones. On the iPhone, tap Trust and enter its passcode when asked.
  3. On the Fold8, select the compatible content you want and start the transfer.
  4. Follow any separate on-screen instructions for an app, then leave the cable connected until Smart Switch says the copy is complete.

Samsung says a cable supports the broadest range of transfer types. The options shown can still vary with the connected devices and software.

Transfer wirelessly

Open Smart Switch on the Fold8 and choose the wireless iPhone option it offers. If a QR code appears, scan it with the iPhone and approve the connection. Keep both phones powered, unlocked when prompted, close together, and on the stable connection until the transfer finishes.

Wireless steps and supported content vary by software version. Follow the flow shown on the phones rather than forcing an option that is not offered.

Restore from iCloud

In Smart Switch, choose Receive on this phone, iPhone/iPad, then Get data from iCloud when available. Sign in to the correct Apple account, approve the verification request on the iPhone, select compatible content, and let the download finish.

An iCloud transfer can include supported contacts, photos, videos, calendars, files, documents, and notes. The result depends on what is stored in that iCloud account and what Smart Switch currently supports.

What Smart Switch can transfer

Depending on the method, connected devices, and software, Smart Switch can offer compatible contacts, photos, videos, calendars, messages, files, documents, notes, voice memos, alarms, and some settings or app matches. Review the selection screen on the Fold8 because it is the applicable list for that transfer.

What may not transfer

Smart Switch does not promise every item. Synced account data may appear only after you sign in. DRM-protected media, data kept in an app’s private storage, app credentials, and content that requires an app-specific migration may not move through the general transfer. Formatting and attachments can also vary by method.

Turn off iMessage and FaceTime

After confirming the move, deregister iMessage so new text messages are not still routed to Apple’s service. If you are no longer using the iPhone for calls, also turn off FaceTime through Apple’s device or account controls. Do not erase the iPhone until messaging and important content work on the Fold8.

If the transfer stops

Reconnect both phones to power, unlock the iPhone, and check for a trust or approval prompt. Reseat a wired connection or restore stable Wi-Fi, keep the devices together, and compare the selected data with the Fold8’s free storage. Retry the method Smart Switch offers; if wireless repeatedly stops, use the cable option when available.

If Smart Switch still cannot complete the supported transfer, use the Samsung Support source linked below for current steps or contact Samsung Support. Keep the iPhone and its backup intact while you escalate.
